Explore Ciudad Vieja during one part of the trip and reserve a separate stretch for the waterfront. Check the actual journey to dinner rather than assuming all central neighborhoods are adjacent. A hotel break gives time to change and lets lunch settle.
In warm weather, shift long walks to a comfortable part of the day. In wind or rain, shorten the route rather than arriving uncomfortable. A good food weekend is not improved by rigidly following every planned stop.
