Today our Cartagena adventure took us on the Manga Waterfront Loop for some beautiful views of the city. We then dipped our toe into the local life just a bit, Unfortunately we woke up a bit late, so we had to face the heat as we walked around Manga:
Ease into the morning with breakfast of your choice, then walk or take a short Uber to Manga, a leafy residential peninsula with a breezy waterfront promenade.
Stroll the Paseo Peatonal de Manga, watching boats drift across the bay. Continue toward the Club de Pesca marina area for postcard‑worthy views of the Bocagrande skyline. Pause in Parque de la Marina, a shaded local park perfect for a quiet moment.
If you enjoy architecture, pass by Casa Roman, a striking historic mansion.
Return toward Old Town in the afternoon, stopping at Gelateria Paradiso for a refreshing treat. Spend the rest of the day revisiting favorite plazas or boutiques.
In the evening, enjoy rooftop drinks at Townhouse, followed by dinner at a restaurant you haven’t yet tried. Perhaps Celeste, a trendy and high-demand spot (reservations required 1 month in advance) in Centro or Carta Ajena Restaurante, a highly rated spot.
After having a light lunch at the Cerveceria Cartegena, we walked over to the Fuerte de San Sebastian del Pastilillo before seeing the Paseo Peatonal de Manga, the beautiful and elaborate Casa Roman, and Villa Susana, After Ubering back to the hotel for needed shower, we walked to Morena, an stunningly decorated Afro-Caribbean restaurant with delicious empanadas, then headed back to the Cerveceria to watch the Brasil v Columbia game. At halftime we hit Getsemani again to find more empanadas, and stumbled upon the aptly named Antojitos, a tiny mom and pop shop that’s definitely worth a visit for its delicious antojitos and great prices.
The day left us with this lovely blend of calm and connection. Walking along Manga’s waterfront, watching boats drift across the bay, and later wandering through Getsemani made the whole day feel expansive and intimate.
