Trip Planning
Three days, done right
Santiago pairs a lively, walkable center with wine country and the Pacific coast within easy reach.
Base yourself in Lastarria or Providencia so the center, Bellavista and Barrio Italia are all a short walk or Metro ride away.
Day 1
Centro & Lastarria
Plaza de Armas and the Metropolitan Cathedral, then Mercado Central for seafood.
Climb Cerro Santa Lucía for an early view of the city and the Andes.
Lastarria’s galleries, bookshops and the GAM cultural center.
A glass of Carménère at one of Lastarria’s wine bars.
Day 2
Bellavista & Barrio Italia
La Chascona, Pablo Neruda’s house tucked into Bellavista.
The funicular up Cerro San Cristóbal for the classic panorama.
Design shops and cafés in Barrio Italia.
Dinner in Providencia or Bellavista.
Day 3
Wine Country or the Coast
Drive about an hour to the Casablanca Valley for cool-climate whites.
A long winery lunch among the vines.
Continue to Valparaíso’s colorful hills, murals and funiculars.
Back to Santiago for sunset from Sky Costanera or a final pisco sour.
