Trip Planning
Three days, done right
Bogotá is a capital best taken neighborhood by neighborhood: gold and Botero in La Candelaria, food and design in Chapinero, and colonial calm in Usaquén.
Stay in Chapinero or around Parque 93, and pack layers — at 2,600 meters the weather changes by the hour.
Day 1
La Candelaria & Monserrate
The Museo del Oro, home to one of the world’s great collections of pre-Hispanic gold.
Museo Botero and Plaza de Bolívar, then a bowl of ajiaco for lunch.
Take the cable car or funicular up Monserrate for the view over the whole city.
Street art and chicha around the Chorro de Quevedo, then dinner in La Candelaria.
Day 2
Chapinero & Zona G
Paloquemao market for tropical fruit, flowers and breakfast at the stalls.
Coffee and a slow wander through Quinta Camacho’s brick houses.
Colombian designers — Kika Vargas, Mercedes Salazar and the city’s best boutiques.
Dinner in Zona G, Bogotá’s restaurant row.
Day 3
Salt Cathedral & Usaquén
Head north to the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá, carved inside a working salt mine.
Lunch on the way back into the city.
Usaquén’s colonial plaza — on Sundays, its flea market fills the streets.
Cocktails around Parque 93 to close the trip.
