Jet Set LatAM · Restaurant Guide
If one restaurant changed how the world sees Tijuana, it’s Misión 19. Chef Javier Plascencia, from one of the city’s best-known restaurant families, opened it as a showcase for Baja Med, the region’s cooking that blends Mexican technique, Mediterranean ingredients and Pacific seafood.
Here’s what to expect at Misión 19 Tijuana and how to plan your visit.
The cooking
Expect Baja’s best ingredients treated with finesse: local fish and shellfish, Valle de Guadalupe olive oil and wine, regional cheeses and herbs. The tasting menu is the way to see the kitchen’s range, and the wine list leans heavily on Baja producers.
The room
The restaurant has a contemporary, design-minded dining room in Zona Río, the city’s business and restaurant district. It’s polished but relaxed, so smart-casual dress works.
How to book
Reserve ahead, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Ask about the tasting menu when booking and mention dietary needs. Use Uber or DiDi to get there and back.
