Start with the label, then choose the storefront
A dress discovered in Cartagena or a woven jacket spotted in Mexico City can stay with you long after the trip. Buying online lets you revisit that discovery, compare the collection calmly and choose a piece that belongs in your everyday wardrobe. The challenge is finding the right storefront and understanding the transaction behind the beautiful photograph.
This guide is a starting point for buying directly from four Latin American labels, followed by the questions worth asking before checkout. It is a researched shopping guide, not a claim that every brand delivers everywhere. For the people and ideas behind the clothes, begin with our Latin American Fashion Designers hub; for a fitting in person, use our city shopping guides.
Colombia: Johanna Ortiz and AGUA by Agua Bendita
Johanna Ortiz
Begin at Johanna Ortiz’s official shop when you want to explore the label’s clothing and accessories together. Browse by the occasion you actually have, then compare the silhouette with pieces you already wear. A dramatic sleeve or open neckline can be beautiful on screen and still require a different bra, jacket or alteration than you expected.
The brand’s FAQ explains that the ship-to selector determines available destinations and currencies. Choose your delivery country before treating a displayed price as your final budget. A preorder is a different commitment from an item ready to ship; read its timing on the product page. For a physical visit, explore our Cartagena guide.
AGUA by Agua Bendita
AGUA’s official website is a useful entry point for resort dressing. Follow its regional storefront choices rather than assuming that a US page and a Colombian page share inventory or delivery terms. The US FAQ belongs to that storefront.
For swimwear, check the coverage, lining, closure and whether tops and bottoms are sold separately. For a dress, look at fabric and care as closely as the print. Picture it folded in your suitcase and worn away from the beach: the right purchase should earn its space on both sides of the holiday.
Mexico: Carla Fernández
Carla Fernández’s international shop offers a way into architectural clothing and Mexican craft without reducing the work to a souvenir. Use the site’s technique information alongside the product photography. Look at the panels, openings and way the garment sits on the body; familiar size letters do not explain an unfamiliar shape.
The official terms distinguish ready pieces from some made-to-order items and note that artisanal processes can produce small variations. Before buying, read the current exchange policy carefully. An exchange arrangement is not the same as a straightforward refund, and international shipping can make changing a size expensive.
Ask for garment measurements when the silhouette is generous or geometric. Compare those measurements with a similar piece laid flat at home, rather than only converting a US size to a Mexican one. If you are visiting the city, our established Mexico City designer-boutique walk provides an in-person alternative.
Peru: ESCVDO
The official ESCVDO shop separates dresses, tops, knitwear, outerwear and accessories, with shipping, preorder and refund policies linked in its customer-care menu. This makes it a useful starting point for shoppers interested in contemporary clothing connected to Peruvian textile traditions.
Read the composition on the individual piece. A photograph that looks richly textured does not tell you whether the item is cotton, a wool blend or another material, and those differences matter for climate, weight and care. Request close-up images if the construction is central to your decision.
For knitwear, consider whether the garment will stretch on a hanger, how it should be stored and what care you can realistically manage. A statement piece is most satisfying when its maintenance fits your life. Combine this online browse with our Lima destination guide if you would rather make textiles part of a longer design trip.
Compare the complete purchase, not only the price
Use a short checklist before paying: delivery country, currency, material, garment measurements, stock status, estimated dispatch, shipping charge and return route. Keep the product page and order confirmation. If the checkout or policy is unclear about duties and import charges, ask the seller before committing; these depend on the destination and transaction.
Buying through a department store or independent retailer can be sensible when it offers the size, delivery location or return arrangement you need. Check that retailer’s own policies. A designer’s direct-store return terms do not automatically cover something bought elsewhere. When authenticity is uncertain, use the brand’s stockist list or ask its customer service to confirm the seller.
Navigate from the designer’s own website or verified official channels. Be cautious with lookalike domains and implausibly deep discounts. The name in a search result is not enough to establish that a shop belongs to the label.
Jet Set Notes: buy for the trip you are actually taking
Leave time for dispatch, delivery and a fitting before departure. Avoid sending a first order to a hotel unless both the property and seller have confirmed how it will be received. A reservation date is not a delivery guarantee, particularly for preorders or parcels crossing borders.
Choose one anchor piece, then style it with what you own. A resort dress does not require an entirely new suitcase, and a sculptural jacket can be the interesting part of a simple city wardrobe. If you want a broader introduction before buying, read our swimwear and resortwear edit and jewelry guide.
The aim is a considered purchase from a designer you understand, with the right fit and a clear route from shop to home. A little care at checkout protects the pleasure of discovering something beautiful.
