Historic center: the simplest starting point
Begin with the historic center if architecture and cultural visits lead your plans. Peru Travel describes the city’s characteristic sillar stone and the Plaza de Armas as an anchor. Santa Catalina’s official visitor page places its entrance at Santa Catalina 301.
Compare hotels against those actual points. Ask whether the room faces a courtyard or the street, and whether there are stairs between the entrance and your room. A central address is useful only if the building works for you.

San Lázaro: for a textile-focused outing
Mundo Alpaca lists its Arequipa address as Av. Juan de la Torre 101, San Lázaro. Consider the surrounding area when comparing accommodation if textile learning is a particular interest.
The venue combines interpretation with a commercial shop. That can make a good visit, but it is different from an independently arranged artisan workshop. Ask about the experience available on your date and leave buying until after you have looked and learned.
Yanahuara: a different rhythm
Compare Yanahuara if you want a neighborhood outing built around its viewpoint and a picantería meal. Peru Travel highlights both the mirador and La Nueva Palomino in this district.
Choosing it as a base means planning your trips into Centro. Look at the exact hotel entrance and ask how guests normally reach the sights on your list. Do not assume a map’s straight-line distance describes a pleasant walking route, or that every room shares a viewpoint’s outlook.

Give two days a clear shape
Make the first day about the historic center and Santa Catalina, with a light arrival schedule if you have just reached the city. Give the second to textiles and a Yanahuara lunch. The companion itinerary develops that order; the food guide explains San Camilo and the picantería choices.
Keep regional excursions separate from these two city days. A tightly packed list can turn the meal or museum you came for into a stop you rush through.
What to ask before paying
Check room access, noise, cancellation terms and the arrival arrangement. Save the hotel entrance and your cultural bookings offline. Use a current journey estimate for transfers rather than relying on a fixed time copied from a guide.
Our base recommendations are editorial choices, not firsthand hotel reviews. If a particular terrace, lift or room feature determines your booking, get confirmation from the property for the room category you are actually buying.
Plan the stay around your day
Choose the neighborhood first, then compare rooms and cancellation terms. For a guided outing, check the meeting point and what is included.
