El Trapiche: begin with a traditional-food stop
El Trapiche’s official locations page lists its Vía Argentina branch in El Cangrejo. Use it as the starting point for exploring traditional Panamanian cooking, and consult the current menu before deciding what to order.
Choose the branch deliberately when planning transport or a meeting point. A restaurant with several locations can otherwise send your party in different directions. Ask about portions and ingredients, and let the meal be the main reason for the outing rather than a rushed stop before crossing town.
Maito: plan a restaurant-led evening
Maito’s official site presents Mario Castrellón’s approach to Panama’s multicultural food influences. Explore the current menu and booking options there rather than relying on an old review for the format or price.
If this is your main dinner, confirm the current address with the reservation and leave the preceding afternoon flexible. This guide deliberately avoids assigning it an unverified street address or promising a particular menu. Ask the restaurant directly about dietary needs before committing to the booking.
Understand the mola before buying one
Visit or research Museo de la Mola for cultural context, then shop with questions about the maker, technique and origin. Panama’s official craft guide identifies Guna molas, Emberá and Wounaan basketry and other distinct traditions.
A contemporary garment incorporating a textile and a standalone handmade textile are different purchases. Ask how the maker is credited and compensated, what is handmade, and what care the piece needs. Do not assume that every colorful souvenir shares the same origin or process.
A local designer to research: Jochebec Arjona
Panamanian designer Jochebec Arjona connects fashion with mola traditions through Nativa Force. Ellas reported the opening of a Casco Viejo boutique in August 2025, at Calle 10, Casa Río, beside the municipal building.
Treat this as a designer lead, not a confirmed walk-in appointment: the present boutique address and opening schedule still need direct confirmation. Contact the brand before building a shopping day around it. This distinction keeps an interesting local label in the guide without turning an older opening report into a guarantee.
Reprosa: choose the currently listed branch
For jewelry and craft browsing, check Reprosa’s Multiplaza listing. At our September 27, 2026 check, Reprosa’s own notice said its Costa del Este location was closed September 12–October 12 and directed visitors to Multiplaza. Recheck that notice before traveling.
Ask about materials, production and the cultural references behind a piece. Multiplaza is a separate stop from Casco; plan a transfer rather than presenting the two as a compact walking route. The branch choice matters more than collecting another shop name.
Keep the day focused
Choose a Casco culture-and-design outing or an El Cangrejo meal, then add only the shopping detour that genuinely interests you. Prices, menus and opening hours are intentionally left to current official pages. Save receipts and care instructions for purchases, and confirm packing for anything delicate.
