Trip Planning
Three days, done right
Mexico City rewards a slower pace — this itinerary threads together the historic center, the city’s design-forward neighborhoods, and one essential day trip, with room to linger over long lunches along the way.
Base yourself in Roma Norte or Condesa for easy walking access to most of what’s below, and lean on ride-hailing apps for the rest.
Day 1
Centro Histórico & Culture
Start at the Zócalo, then step inside the Catedral Metropolitana and the ruins of Templo Mayor right next door.
Wander to Palacio de Bellas Artes for its murals and Art Nouveau facade, then browse Barrio Chino for lunch.
Cross to Casa de los Azulejos and the pedestrian stretch of Calle Madero toward Alameda Central.
Sunset drinks on a rooftop overlooking the Centro skyline before dinner in the neighborhood.
Day 2
Roma Norte, Condesa & Chapultepec
Coffee and pan dulce in Roma Norte, then a slow walk down Álvaro Obregón past its Art Deco mansions.
Chapultepec Park — the Castillo for the views and history, or the Museo Nacional de Antropología for the collection.
Cross into Condesa for boutique-lined streets around Parque México and Parque España.
Dinner in Condesa or Roma, two of the city’s best neighborhoods for a long, unhurried meal.
Day 3
Coyoacán & Teotihuacán
An early start for Teotihuacán — climb the Pyramid of the Sun and walk the Avenue of the Dead before the heat and crowds build.
Head back into the city for lunch near Coyoacán’s Jardín Centenario.
Museo Frida Kahlo (book ahead) and a slow loop through Coyoacán’s cobblestone streets and mercado.
A final dinner back in Roma Norte or Polanco before departure.
