Colonia Americana’s cafés, downtown’s murals and theaters, and an easy day trip to Tequila.
Day 1
Colonia Americana & Downtown
Morning
Coffee in Colonia Americana, then a walk past its art deco mansions and mural-covered walls.
Midday
Head downtown to the Instituto Cultural Cabañas for Orozco’s murals, then lunch nearby.
Afternoon
Teatro Degollado and the Plaza de Armas, followed by Mercado San Juan de Dios for browsing.
Evening
Dinner back in Colonia Americana’s restaurant-dense streets.
Day 2
Tlaquepaque & Tonalá
Morning
A short trip out to Tlaquepaque — artisan galleries, mariachi in the plaza, and slow café culture.
Midday
Lunch in Tlaquepaque’s candlelit courtyards, then browse ceramics and glasswork studios.
Afternoon
Continue to Tonalá if time allows, known for its Thursday/Sunday artisan market.
Evening
Return to Guadalajara for dinner and live mariachi at Plaza de los Mariachis.
Day 3
Tequila Day Trip
Morning
Day trip to the town of Tequila — the agave fields along the way are a UNESCO World Heritage landscape.
Midday
Tour and tasting at one of the historic tequila distilleries (Sauza or Jose Cuervo both offer tours).
Afternoon
Wander the town’s main plaza and church before heading back to Guadalajara.
Evening
A final dinner back in the city before departure.
