At Tuju, the most useful luxury is time: time to follow a tasting menu, notice the room, and let São Paulo become more than the space between an airport and a reservation. The restaurant holds three stars in the Michelin Guide’s 2026 selection. Chef Ivan Ralston’s approach makes it a compelling anchor for a city break built around food and design.

Cooking with the season
Tuju describes its cooking as seasonal and paulistana. Its menus follow local rainfall patterns, using the names Umidade, Chuva, Ventania and Seca. This offers a useful way to approach the meal: arrive curious about the present season, rather than expecting a dish remembered from somebody else’s photographs.
Ask the team which ingredient best explains the current menu. A thoughtful question can connect what arrives at the table with the growing conditions and people behind it. There is no need to make the evening an examination of culinary knowledge. Listen, taste, and allow unfamiliar combinations to remain unfamiliar for a moment before reaching for a comparison.
For drinks, the restaurant lists wine, mixed alcoholic, and nonalcoholic pairings. Choosing between them is part of planning the experience, not a test of seriousness. Consider your preferences, how much you want to drink, and the following morning. Ask about the current options and their prices before confirming; a satisfying evening does not require choosing the most expensive accompaniment.
Architecture as part of dinner
Angelo Bucci’s design gives the meal a spatial rhythm, moving between a ground-level arrival area, the dining room around the finishing kitchen, and a terrace. Brazilian furniture and planting bring further layers to the setting. Architecture lovers have good reason to pay attention to the transitions as well as the plates.
Notice how a change of level alters your relationship with the city. Look at the furniture as something made to support a long conversation, and at the kitchen as a working space. Quiet luxury here can be an attentive way of visiting: a phone put away between photographs, a pause after a course, and enough room in the schedule to stay present.
Planning your reservation
The current address is Rua Frei Galvão, 135, Jardim Paulistano. Start with the reservation link on Tuju’s official website, and verify the address on your confirmation. Tell the restaurant about allergies, dietary requirements, mobility needs, and any special occasion before arrival. Ask what can be accommodated within the current menu rather than assuming substitutions are always possible.
Keep the rest of the evening open. Confirm the expected duration, booking conditions, deposit requirements, and cancellation terms directly. Leave a generous transport buffer and save the destination on your phone before setting out. A reservation this central to a trip deserves a settled arrival, with the practical questions resolved in advance.
A slower São Paulo stay
Build the day around one cultural outing and a proper rest at your hotel. Resist filling every available hour simply because the city offers more than one visit can contain. Our São Paulo guide can help you group plans geographically, while the Latin American food guide adds a wider culinary perspective.
For a stay with a strong architectural identity, read our Hotel Unique guide. Choose accommodation around the whole itinerary, not an assumed walking route to dinner. Compare the final rate, breakfast, cancellation conditions, and transfers separately. The most useful hotel is the one that lets you move through the city without constantly repacking your day.

What to bring
Pack one polished outfit that remains comfortable throughout a long meal, a light layer, and shoes you already enjoy wearing. Check any dress guidance directly with the restaurant. Our ShopMy travel kits and refills collection offers practical ideas for keeping luggage compact. This is an affiliate link; Jet Set LatAM may earn a commission from qualifying purchases.
If you are planning several destination dinners, place a simpler meal between them. São Paulo deserves attention beyond its most celebrated tables. Give yourself a morning with no restaurant countdown, and enough flexibility to follow a small discovery. Tuju can be the centrepiece of a visit without becoming the only thing you remember.
