Chicha Arequipa: Regional Dishes and Tasting Menu Guide

Chicha is a useful restaurant to plan around when you want Arequipa’s culinary identity to lead the meal. The decision is between exploring individual dishes and following a longer sequence, with enough time to appreciate the differences. This researched guide focuses on the Arequipa address, rather than treating the restaurant’s separate Cusco location as interchangeable.
Reserve the right city
The official site lists Chicha Arequipa at Calle Santa Catalina 210, Cercado. It presents regional cooking shaped by local ingredients, traditions and producers. Start from that Arequipa page when making arrangements. Check the city on the confirmation before organizing a transfer: Chicha also has a Cusco branch, with its own address and reservation contact.
Read the menu as a choice of formats
The official 2026 menu includes the eight-course Homenaje a Arequipa and a separate traditional section. Examples include rocoto relleno with potato gratin and regional cheese, ocopa, and chupe de camarones. Use those as a picture of the published repertoire, not a guarantee of the dishes served on your date. Ask which menu and ingredients are currently available.
À la carte or a full sequence?
Choose the tasting format when the meal is the main event and everyone wants to follow its progression. À la carte can make more sense for diners with different appetites or a shorter lunch. Discuss portion sizes and sharing with the team before ordering several substantial dishes. Start with the experience you want; then compare the current cost, drinks and expected duration.
Give regional dishes some context
Our suggestion is to combine a planned Chicha meal with another day exploring the city’s broader food culture. The linked Arequipa market and picantería guide gives that second day a different purpose. A contemporary restaurant and a traditional lunch need not compete for the same slot in the itinerary. Leave room to notice ingredients and ask questions instead of trying every dish in one sitting.
Settle the details before arriving
Describe dietary restrictions directly, including ingredients that may appear in sauces or accompaniments. Do not infer that a menu label answers every preparation question. Confirm the service, cancellation terms and price for your date, and keep a long excursion away from a tightly timed meal. If staying at Katari, book the hotel and restaurant separately; their pairing here is editorial planning advice.
