Jet Set LatAM · Food Guide
Once a working-class barrio, Güemes is now Córdoba’s most creative neighborhood: old houses turned into restaurants, craft-beer patios, vintage shops and design stores. It’s where the city goes to eat, drink and linger, and it’s the best place to taste what makes Córdoba different from Buenos Aires.
Here’s where and what to eat in Güemes.
What to eat
- Lomito: Córdoba’s mighty steak sandwich, loaded with ham, cheese, egg, lettuce and tomato.
- Empanadas cordobesas: slightly sweet, often dusted with sugar, a local quirk worth trying.
- Alfajores and colaciones: regional sweets for the road.
What to drink
Córdoba runs on fernet con coca, the bitter herbal liqueur mixed with cola; every bar in Güemes pours it. Craft breweries and natural-wine bars round out the scene.
The Paseo de las Artes
The city’s August 27, 2026 notice moved the artisan fair to Calle Belgrano on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays while Paseo de las Artes works continue. An October 9 update confirms work was progressing; check the municipal notice and current local arrangements before visiting.
Good to know
- Dine late. Argentines eat dinner after 9pm.
- Go on weekends. Confirm the fair’s current location and Saturday, Sunday or public-holiday schedule.
- Walk it. Güemes is compact and easy to explore on foot.
What to pack
- Leather loafers: for evenings out
- Packing cubes: room for market finds
