Two parks, one waterfall system
UNESCO inscribed Argentina’s Iguazú National Park in 1984 and Brazil’s Iguaçu National Park in 1986. Together they protect one of the world’s great waterfall systems and the subtropical forest around it.
Argentina side: walk the falls
The Argentine side holds most of the falls and is best for getting close. The Upper Circuit looks down from above, the Lower Circuit brings you to river level, and a 1.1 km boardwalk leads to the Devil’s Throat. A free jungle train links the stations. Plan a full day.
Brazil side: the panorama
The Brazilian side offers the wide panoramic view and is usually a half day. Many travelers base themselves on one side and cross for a day; check passport and entry requirements for the border before you go.
Fees and timing
On the Argentine side, foreign adult tickets were estimated at about US$40–45 for 2026, with reduced rates for children and a discount for a second consecutive day if you validate your ticket. The park opens from 8am to 6pm; arrive early to reach the Devil’s Throat before the crowds.
Where to stay
Puerto Iguazú in Argentina and Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil are the gateway towns. Two nights lets you see both sides without rushing.
