A journey shaped by the table
A Brazil Michelin itinerary works best when a reservation gives a day its shape without consuming the entire trip. Leave room for architecture, an ordinary neighborhood lunch and the pleasure of arriving at dinner rested. This pillar connects our individual restaurant guides with the cities around them, helping you choose a starting point before getting into menus and booking details.
Start with our Michelin hub for published restaurant coverage. For a first visit, choose one city if time is short. A journey combining both cities deserves a separate transfer day, rather than a tightly scheduled flight followed by an important dinner.
What the 2026 distinctions mean
The official 2026 selection covers Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo: 24 starred restaurants, 44 Bib Gourmands and 81 other recommended addresses. It is a regional selection, not a survey of every Brazilian destination.
Stars, Bib Gourmand and inclusion in the Guide are different distinctions. Bib Gourmand highlights good food at good value; an included restaurant should never automatically be described as starred. Use the official Michelin selection as the authority when checking a name. Our growing collection offers independent planning advice, not Michelin endorsement.
For a different pace, Jiquitaia brings Brazilian cooking and 2026 Bib Gourmand recognition to the São Paulo itinerary.
Maní adds one Michelin star and a closer look at Brazilian interiors.
São Paulo: choose your anchor dinner
Our São Paulo starting points are Evvai, Tuju and D.O.M.. Evvai and Tuju hold three stars; D.O.M. holds two. Read the individual guides to compare each restaurant’s approach, then choose the experience that fits your curiosity and the way you like to spend an evening.
Avoid treating three tasting menus as consecutive obligations. Give each meal some space, and use the São Paulo city guide to organize the surrounding days. Choosing accommodation after mapping your priority reservations can be more useful than choosing a hotel first and accepting long journeys across the city. Keep a neighborhood café and an unscheduled afternoon in the plan; repetition helps a large city become familiar.
Rio: connect dining with cultural landscapes
In Rio, explore our guides to Lasai and Oro, both with two stars. Choose a dinner, then work outward through the city guide rather than racing between addresses. Ask the restaurant about the current format, available dates and any dietary requirements before committing to the rest of the evening.
For a one-star evening, our Madame Olympe guide adds another Rio address to the shortlist.
The Rio’s UNESCO landscapes guide adds another way of understanding Rio: the relationship between mountains, planted spaces and the sea. Give that landscape its own daytime attention. A thoughtful cultural visit and a considered dinner can share a journey without becoming a crowded checklist. Leave a generous return window before changing for dinner, especially when crossing the city.
Reservations, budget and pace
Book through the restaurant’s official channel linked in each guide. Check cancellation terms, deposits, the total price of the current menu, drinks, service and any supplements. Ask how much time to allow, whether the team can accommodate your needs and whether the menu is suitable for everyone in your party. Save the confirmation somewhere accessible offline.
For a suggested week, allow three nights in each city with a transfer day between them. This is an editorial pacing suggestion, not a fixed package. Reserve your most important dinner first, then add flexible cultural time. Do not assign a demanding meal to arrival night; delayed travel should not dictate the mood of an expensive reservation.
Build the wider journey
Use our UNESCO World Heritage hub to find cultural companions to the dining collection. Read the relevant property guide before booking a visit, and keep memorial sites separate in tone and purpose from leisure dining.
For optional guided activities, browse our travel partner; check the actual itinerary and operator before booking. Our ShopMy travel collection can help with a compact wardrobe that moves between daytime exploring and dinner. These affiliate links may earn Jet Set LatAM a commission, at no extra cost to you. They do not book restaurant tables. The real luxury is enough time to enjoy what you have chosen.
