That variation is the important detail. A hillside address can produce a beautiful outlook while asking more of your legs and luggage. This is researched hotel coverage; the image shows Valparaíso’s artistic neighborhood context, rather than the hotel’s interior.
Do not buy an assumed bay view
Ask what view the quoted room guarantees. A category name that sounds generous may describe space rather than a panorama. If the bay is the reason you are choosing the hotel, get that feature in the written confirmation. If a private terrace matters, confirm that it belongs to your exact room.
Compare the room with the amount of time you intend to spend there. A view-led upgrade is easier to justify for a slow anniversary weekend than for a schedule that begins at breakfast and ends after dinner. You can also enjoy a city’s setting from public spaces without buying the most expensive room.
Access deserves a specific answer

Arrival afternoon: settle in and take a short Cerro Alegre walk, with a cafe or gallery as the destination. Keep dinner convenient. The hotel site links its restaurant, Maralegre; confirm a table and current service rather than assuming availability.
Full day: explore a focused art-and-architecture route, then pause for lunch. Choose one additional neighborhood or waterfront stop. Use the Valparaíso guide to keep the route realistic and ask locally about current access to ascensores.
Departure: breakfast and a final view are enough. Arrange onward transport before setting off, especially when connecting with a flight from Santiago. Road travel and a flight deadline need more margin than a map’s best-case estimate.
