A mansion, a garden of plants and a chef’s point of view
Rosetta opened in 2010 in a Porfirian-era mansion on Calle Colima, in Roma Norte. Chef Elena Reygadas — named the World’s Best Female Chef in 2023 — built it into one of Mexico City’s most personal restaurants: high ceilings, plants, soft light and a kitchen that blends Mexican ingredients with a Mediterranean, largely Italian, sensibility. It received a Michelin star in the Guide’s first Mexico edition and holds one star in 2026.
Order to share
Michelin describes creative Mexican cooking with global influences, designed for sharing. Dishes the inspectors highlighted include cabbage tacos with Savoy cabbage and pistachio purée, a sweet-potato tamal with salsa macha, and Manila mango with coconut cream and horchata ice cream. Menus change with the seasons, so treat any dish as a snapshot rather than a promise.
Order a few plates, then a few more: the pleasure of Rosetta is the rhythm of a meal that grows around the table.
The bakery comes first
Many visitors meet Reygadas through her bread before they sit down at Rosetta. Panadería Rosetta, nearby in Roma, is famous for its guava roll and other pastries; arrive early, as the line can be long. A morning at the bakery and an evening at the restaurant make a very Roma Norte day.
Roma Norte around the table
Rosetta sits among galleries, concept stores and leafy streets. Our guide to Mexico City concept stores can fill the afternoon before dinner.
